New Growth Trend: Businesses That Serve Virtual Businesses

Virtually all businesses need business services – even virtual businesses. Virtual businesses are operations that are not anchored to a particular location.
With an Internet connection and a cell phone, virtual business owners can work from home or wherever they are. They typically work with individual independent contractors who also work virtually as well.

Virtual businesses have exploded, so much so that other virtual businesses have sprung up to meet the particular needs if these businesses. There’s money to be made in virtual businesses. eBay is a perfect example. eBay provides a marketplace for 750,000 businesses that sell online, many of which are virtual businesses or home-based businesses.

eBay’s PayPal unit enables countless businesses to operate virtually by streamlining their accounts payables and receivables, and even their e-commerce functions. With PayPal, you can purchase needed business services and goods, issue invoices and get paid for them completely electronically. You also can use PayPal as a plug-and-play shopping cart for processing online e-commerce transactions. Skype, also owned by eBay, enables virtual business team members to communicate easily and for free.

eBay, PayPal and Skype are all excellent examples of virtual companies serving other virtual enterprises. But they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Other virtual companies are being hatched daily. Some serve other virtual businesses. Others need services offered by yet other virtual businesses.

Virtual businesses geared to serving other virtual businesses is clearly a growing trend.
